However, pingbacks can be exploited by spammers to distribute large amounts of spam, aiming to get their links posted on numerous sites. If you do not use pingbacks, it’s advisable to deactivate and clean them.
You can either use our Advanced Database Cleaner plugin to remove these pingbacks or run the following SQL code (used by the plugin) directly via phpMyAdmin:
DELETE FROM comments WHERE comment_type = 'pingback'
